Lauren Borick

My name is Lauren, and I’m an American ESL Teacher who currently lives in Poland. I’ve been teaching English since graduating from university in 2013 and along the way have acquired my TEFL and CELTA certificates. Poland is the sixth country I’ve taught in, and I’ve been using this opportunity to connect with my family who lives here and learn more about my heritage. I’ve also started learning Polish, so I understand how frustrating learning a second language can be.

My classes mainly focus on speaking and discussion to help my students feel confident when conversing with a native speaker. Grammar is a part of my classes, but it is not the main component. As a teacher, I believe the best way to learn a language is to speak it as much as possible. I’m here to help create a friendly and comfortable environment so that every student feels like they can speak without the fear of being judged. If there is something specific a student wants to focus on, I have no issue modifying my classes to meet their needs.

My personal life consists of many books, very long walks, and spending time with my foster kitten. I’m a lover of fiction, and I’m slowly building up my digital library. I probably drink too much coffee, like many Americans, and I’m constantly trying to find new recipes to motivate myself to cook a proper meal.
